Mortuary Confidential

"As unpredictable and Lively as a bunch of drunks at a New Orleans funeral." - Joe R. Lansdale
I found this book as I do many. I browse paranormal books on Amazon. When I read what this book was about, there was no way I could pass up reading this one! I ordered it right away!
This book contains a bunch of short stories written by different funeral directors and explains the everyday struggle, and sometimes even funny, situations they get into. As strange as this may sound, to me, this is a super comforting book. It explains things that many of us are curious about regarding death and what it takes to make the dead look presentable during the wake / funeral. It comforts me to know that when that time does eventually come for me or a loved one, I know whoever is taking care of the death, will be knowledgeable and someone just like me or you. I think that funeral directors, or anyone in this line of work, get a bad rap. They are people and they make mistakes. This book really does "put the fun back in funeral".
5 out of 5 stars!
Great read!
I never read this but am wondering if the older show from 2005 called 'six feet under ' had any refrences to this book? I immediately thought of that show as I read your summary.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check this out. Found they have it on audible which is how I get most of my books as of late. There is also another book by the same authors called "Over Our Dead Bodies".
ReplyDeleteI just ordered that one last night! So excited to get it in!
ReplyDeleteOK, when I give you Dare and your birthday present, I'd love to borrow this from you.
ReplyDeleteJust finished this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great little stories that gave me a good chuckle and also kicked me right in the feels. I recounted the story of never going to bed mad to my wife and she cried. Thanks so much for recommending this book. Looking forward to the second release after I make my way through a few other books I have stacked up.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I also enjoyed that little story about going to bed mad. I shared it with my husband. I can't wait to start the other book. But before I can start that one I have to finish the one I'm on now.
